Chanda Nicole Holsey, DrPH, MPH, AE-C

Dr. Chanda Nicole Holsey is the founder and principal of HALO for Families, LLC, a public health organization established in 2010, that collaborates with other agencies to develop and implement programs and initiatives that improve the lives of families and children. Her organization aims to do this by identifying, developing, and promoting high quality, relevant resources that are child-focused, family-centered, research-based, and culturally and developmentally appropriate.  

 

Dr. Holsey serves as a contributing faculty at Nova Southeastern University, Health Sciences Department, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She earned a BA in Psychology at San Diego State University, a Master of Public Health in Behavioral Science and Health Education Emory University, and a Doctor of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Additionally, Dr. Holsey is a certified asthma educator (AE-C). She has a passion to serve and volunteers on several professional boards. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

 

Dr. Holsey has planned, implemented, and evaluated programs locally, statewide, and nationally, and consulted as a program evaluator, grant reviewer, trainer, and research investigator for a myriad of organizations. She currently contracts as a section executive, where she writes grants, prepares annual budgets, and evaluates the program planning and operational activities for the Internal Medicine and Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Sections of the National Medical Association.

 

She has authored three children's books for military families.  She can offer a unique perspective on the topic of difficulties with family separations that are long term, as she is the wife of an enlisted sailor and the mother of two beautiful daughters.  

 

Her personal motto is to “walk with wisdom”. She is married to Eric Holsey, and has two daughters, Savannah and Erin, and a Jack Russell/Dachshund mix named Tweety.  She loves Zumba and passionately supporting her children’s’ endeavors; other enjoyable hobbies are mentoring young professionals, traveling nationally and internationally, nature, and raising Monarch butterflies.
